R K Mandan, Executive Coach, Trainer, and Management Consultant (B. Tech, M.B.A, PMP, CSM) is a graduate of IIT-Kharagpur (1970) and IIM-Calcutta (1975) is a PMP credential holder, and also a certified executive coach.
Mandan’s last assignment was with Tata Projects, Hyderabad, as Head, EPC Academy. At Tata Projects he spearheaded the project “IMPACT” – Innovative Management of Projects and Contracts – TPL Way” to build company-wide project management capability. He conducted more than 60 trainings in Project management and related topics such as Leadership, Contract Management, Risk Management, Cost Estimation and Control, etc. He has trained more than 1500 project personnel in the company at various levels of seniority. He has also helped a number of them in attaining the PMP certification.
He has a very rich industry, entrepreneurial, and teaching experience of 48 years. He has worked with large blue chip companies such as Mahindra and Mahindra, and Asian Paints.
Before joining Tata Projects he was with UPES, Dehradun where he taught Project Management and Operations Management to MBA students. Before that he was with Lanco Academy in Lanco Infratech Ltd., Gurgaon, where he trained over 1000 managers from senior management downwards in Project Management. He has also conducted training in various other related topics such as Risk Management, Cost Estimation, Budgeting and Control, etc. At Lanco Infratech Mandan was also involved in process improvement and preparation of process manuals for Project Management and Risk Management.
He has also worked with Project Management Associates – the Indian arm of the International Project Management Association. While in PMA he helped establish the Indian Institute of Projects & Program Management (I2P2M) which offers executive diploma courses in Project Management for working executives.
Mandan has been active in the spread of management education. He has taught at IIT Kanpur, Kanpur University, Magnus Business School, ICFAI Business School and Institute of Technology & Management, Gurgaon. He was Dean of IBS – Lucknow from February, 2008 – June, 2009, and has also occupied leadership positions in a number of educational institutes.
He has taught various management subjects during the last twenty years. While his special interests are in Project Management and Operations Management, he has also taught various courses in Strategic Management, Financial Management, Management Control Systems, Business Ethics, Operations Research, Research Methodologies etc. He has also conducted a Faculty Development Programme at IBS – Dehradun on Research Methodologies.
He has been invited to deliver presentations on various topics in conferences and MDPs on Risk Management, Supply Chain Management and other topics in a number of management institutes. He has also been invited as a key note speaker at various seminars and workshops.
He has conducted a number of Corporate Workshops on various topics in Project Management, covering both hard and soft skills, in both public sector and private sector companies, such as Indian Railways, GMR, Punj Lloyd, Ranbaxy, L&T and many others. He has trained more than 3000 working managers in Project Management and other management skills. He has conducted more than 200 corporate workshops in 20 plus companies in India and abroad. He has assisted a large number of managers in obtaining international certification in project management.
He worked for Saudi Telecom Company in Saudi Arabia, where his responsibilities included engaging the stakeholders from multiple Business Units, customize and develop new modules in the system, train the managers on using the system functionally and support IT in administering the solution. He also provided support in the implementation of change management across all the Business Units and in adapting the solution. He provided support in streamlining the operations of PMO by developing reporting templates and automation. He also performed process gap analysis and established PM processes along with the definition of roles and responsibilities of the Project Management Office.
He supports the development of the new training programs for Proventures on Project, Program and Portfolio Management. He worked on all modules of Microsoft Project including advanced features like Earned Value Management, advanced tracking and monitoring, and reporting. He has delivered more than 50 workshops on various modules of Microsoft Project since 2008. Few of the corporates to which Vijay has delivered trainings are Microsoft India, Pfizer Inc, Sanofi Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Advanced Systems etc. His consulting experience will provide the students with real time implementation approach, issues, configuration, and customization.
Prashanth supports major Project Management trainings and consulting assignments for Proventures for various Multinational clients in the domains of Pharmaceuticals, Manufacturing / Engineering, Oil and Gas, Airports and Utilities, Aerospace, Telecom, Consulting and IT, and Government.
Mandan has extensively worked on Agile Lean practices and Process Improvements during his tenure of 7 years with Lanco Infratech, Project Management Associates and Tata Projects. He has worked on process analysis and value stream mapping in developing and implementing the improved process. He has also designed various trainings and delivered for adoption of the improved process across the organizations.
