This process has been moved from Project Schedule Management.

The activities and attributes for estimation comes from schedule management, how to estimate comes from resource management plan. Cost estimates comes as additional input to balance resource estimates with cost estimates. Analogues and parametric estimating methods are added

Acquisition technique removed as this would be handled as part of procurement. Procurement management plan will be updated with this effect. Output includes physical resource assignments

Additional stakeholders will come in and hence it is added as input and updates as output

Control Resources

This is new process. It is one of the critical challenge in real time projects. The project managers constantly perform alternative analysis, cost benefit analysis, negotiate, in fluent to keep the resources working on the tasks

Agreements is taken as input to check the commitments made to customer. Baselines, Plans and documents are updated to reflect the changes

Summary / Conclusion

The usual soft skill elements like leadership, team building, negotiation, influencing, conflict management, motivation etc are kept as it is and the new requirements are added.

Teaching this chapter is a bit challenge as this chapter interfaces significantly with schedule management, procurement management and other areas

As said before this area had a big gap of not addressing the physical resources and that has been bridged.
