PMP® is a globally recognized, rigorous, education & professional experience based professional credential program. PMP® certification is  widely recognized and accepted throughout the world as evidence of a proven level of education, knowledge and experience in project management. The PMP® designation demonstrates to current and potential employers that one has demonstrated a solid foundation of knowledge from which he can competently practice project management.

PMI®’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification is the preeminent professional credential for individuals associated with project management.
To attain PMP® credential one must first meet specific educational and project management experience requirements and agree to adhere to a code of professional conduct. The final step to becoming a PMP® is passing a rigorous multiple-choice examination designed to objectively assess and measure one’s ability to apply project management knowledge in the following six domains: initiating the project, planning the project, executing the project, monitoring and controlling the project, closing the project, and professional and social responsibility. This computer-based examination is administered globally with translation aids in 10 languages.

The Examiniation is based on the PMI®’s Project management Standard - Project Management Body of Knowledge(PMBOK®). PMP® certification is conducted by Project Management Institute (PMI®) USA, a premier global association for project management Professionals.

Candidates for the PMP® credential:

PMI® identifies the following practioners for the PMP® credential.  

  • Perform their duties under general supervision and are responsible for all aspects of the project for the life of the project
  • Lead and direct cross-functional teams to deliver projects within the constraints of schedule, budget, and scope
  • Demonstrate sufficient knowledge and experience to appropriately apply a methodology to projects that have reasonably well-defined project requirements and deliverables. 

Eligibility Requirements: 

Candidates aspiring for the PMP® credential needto satisfy the minimum Project management experience requirments as listed below and attend 35 contact hours of formal education in Project Management based on PMBOK - Standard.


Eligibility:

Minimum 5 years /60 months unique non-overlapping professional project management  experience during which at least 7500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks**

Minimum 3 years/36 months unique professional project management  experience during which at least 4500 hours are spent leading and directing Project tasks**

35 contact hours of formal education

 

35 Contact hours of Project Management Education:

Candidates can satisfy the project management educational requirements by demonstrating the successfulcompletion of courses, workshops and training sessions through one or more of the following types ofeducation providers

  • Courses or programs offered by PMI® Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s)*
  • University/college academic and continuing education programs
  • Courses or programs offered by PMI® Component organizations*
  • Courses or programs offered by employer/company-sponsored programs
  • Courses or programs offered by distance-learning companies, including an end of course assessment.
  • Courses or programs offered by training companies or consultants 

 

The following education does not satisfy the 35 contact hours of formal education requirements:

  • PMI® Chapter meetings
  • Self-study (e.g. reading books)
